THIS WEEK'S
FIXTURE - -Chelsea
Vs Sheffield Utd:
This weeks game is against the team who played in the last game
before the Shed End was no more, the date was May 7th 94
and we won 3-2.So, we have played the Blades a total of 36 times and
we have won 19 drawn 10 & lost 7,we have scored a total 70 goals
against 41.As for results there haven’t been any high scoring draws
at the Bridge, there was a 2-2 in
Sept 90 with K Wilson getting the goals. Our heaviest defeat
has only been by 3 goals and that was way back in Apr 47 1-4 with
McInnes getting our lone goal. As for wins our two biggest
were in Jan 34 a 5-0 thrashing with Gallagher & Horton
grabbing 2 each and Oakton getting the other. Our other big win was
a 6-1 victory in Sept 61 with Tambling getting among the scorers
with another hat trick.
Recent Statistics: We haven’t played the Blades that much in the Prem
as this is only their 3rd season in the money
League, so I’ve picked out season 93-94.This season Sheff
went down to the depths of the first division with a
credible 42 points, us on the other hand finished a lowly 14th
(but still above spurs!!!) with a points haul of 51.According to
the records our capacity back then was only 29,700 but
we had a high of 37,064…you work it out cos I can’t (Vs
Manure Nited). Our lowest was Vs Coventry (figures!!) 8, 923, we
also had a lot of crowds just over the 10k mark which brought
the average gate down to a paltry 19,211.Mind you looking at
some of the players we had back then I’m surprised we averaged
that many.

CHELSEA LEGEND: Super Super Dan Super Dan Petrescu was the cry heard so often around
Stamford Bridge, when the midfield maestro was having a good game.
Dan came to us from Sheffield Wednesday in Nov 95 for a fee of
around $4.5 million, he was at Chelsea for near on 5 seasons, and in
that time he firmly became a fans favorite, with his runs down the
wings, ghosting past some hesitant defenses and whipping in some
great crosses. He was also a decent goalscorer, scoring 24 goals for
us in a little over 200 games. He was in the cup winnings teams of
97 & 98; he was also our first foreign player to reach 200 games for
us. Dan Petrescu…CHELSEA LEGEND!
CHELSEA TRIVIA:
Our two Premiership wins
have both been with the best goal difference since the prem came
into existence. + 50 (05-06) & +57(04-05)
