THIS WEEKEND'S FIXTURE - -Everton Vs Chelsea
Oh my god we have a terrible record against the Toffee men .We have played them a total of 67 times at Goodison Park and we have only managed to grab all the points on 14 occasions, with 21 draws & 32 defeats.Thats so bad. I bet the Chelsea players were worried the bus home was on bricks! We have managed to score 84 goals but we have let in an astonishing 141 in front of an average gate of 32,804 scousers. Our biggest win there was a 0-3 which has happened twice, one in Apr 08 & one in Oct 56.Our biggest defeats (& trust me there have been a lot ) are a 1-5 in Apr 1921,a 2-7 in Nov 1931, a 1-6 in Mar 60 & a 0-6 in Apr 78.We have drawn with then 3 times 3-3,our highest scoring draw, the last being in May 95.
Recent Statistics: Our recent games up in Beatles country have been a lot more productive than in by gone years. Our last 4 games have produced 3 wins & 1 draw, with winning scores of 3-1 & 1-0 twice. In the Dec 02 3-1 victory our goals were scored by Gronkjaer,Stanic & JFH. In the 02-03 season we finished 4th with 67 pts & the toffees finished 7th with 59 pts.The top scores that season for both teams were, Radzinski with 11 goals from 30 games and for Chelsea Gianfranco was top scorer with 14 glorious goals from 38 games.

ON THIS IMPORTANT DATE: This week I can’t find a memorable game against the Toffee’s so instead I’ve decided to put in a game from December 5th 1964.On this date Chelsea were playing West Bromwich Albion away. At the end of this season Chelsea were to finish 3rd in the old first Division, which considering we couldn’t put a run of more than 4 wins together is surprising. We had just come off a 0-3 loss at home to the Hammers the week before so a win was needed. Our team that day was…Bonetti, Hinton, McCreadie, Hollins, Mortimore, R Harris, Murray, Graham, Bridges, Venables & Houseman. A crowd of 15,277 saw Graham & Bridges score in a 2-0 victory. Also the day before this, a Chelsea fan was being born. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY IN MICHIGAN!!!...sorry it’s a week late.
CHELSEA LEGEND. What can I say that hasn’t already be said about the man who scored “that” goal in the 97 Cup Final. I know I can say he had some real weird hair styles & colors. But that does not diminish the fact that we have a player here who’s career was cruelly cut short by a horrific injury. Bobby came to us from Lazio, at the time he was already a constant fixture in the Italian national team, which at the time for Chelsea was a somewhat new concept. He made an instant impression with (here comes the word again) “that” goal celebration against Middlesbrough.Little did we know that he would love playing against them. Bobby played a total of 175 games & scored 26 goals. Some of his goals will linger long in the memory. Of course there are the cup final goals, the goal against Le Arse in Vialli’s first game in charge, but the best goal (imho) has to be the one Vs Liverpool in a New Year’s Day league game. He ran rings round just about everyone in red and then just knocked the crap out of the ball past Calamity James. Well worth sitting on them cold cold concrete benches for. Bobby won 6 major trophies at Chelsea as well as 34 caps. Bobby is still living & working in London as he has a restaurant “la perla “ just off the Fulham road…Roberto Di Matteo thank you for the memories, the goals, the hairstyles & that oh so cheeky smile, you will always be a TRUE …CHELSEA LEGEND.
